Our Story

The Middle Eastern Arts Collective was founded in Virginia by Mariam Masoud in response to growing global divisions. Amid ongoing conflicts, she observed a diminishing understanding between the West and the Middle East across politics, education, journalism, professional settings, and beyond.

The Middle Eastern Arts Collective believes that culture provides the most personal and impactful path to understanding; it is easier to overcome prejudice, political divides, religious barriers, and differences of opinion when we appreciate the stories, identities, and perspectives of others. At the heart of culture is art, serving as a universal language that expresses values, beliefs, and experiences.

Art transcends borders, challenges assumptions, invites empathy, and fosters dialogue. The Middle Eastern Arts Collective is built on the belief that we can create spaces for connection, integration, and understanding by sharing and celebrating the diverse art of the Middle East.
